Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 24, 2026

1. Who We Are

Cadence is an AI-powered running coaching platform operated by Ignacio Mendez Perez. In this policy, "Cadence," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Cadence and its operator. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

a. Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture through our authentication provider (Google Sign-In via Clerk).

b. Personal Information

During onboarding, we collect your date of birth and sex to personalize your training plans.

c. Body Metrics (Optional)

You may optionally provide body metrics including weight, height, resting heart rate, and VO2max. These are used to improve coaching accuracy but are never required.

d. Running Profile and Training Preferences

We collect information about your running experience, weekly habits, race goals, preferred training days, available terrain types, and treadmill capabilities to generate personalized training plans.

e. Activity Data from Connected Services

When you connect a third-party fitness service such as Garmin Connect, we may access your activity data including but not limited to: activities (runs, workouts), heart rate data, sleep data, stress levels, body composition, steps, and other fitness metrics made available through that service's API.

We access this data only with your explicit consent when you authorize the connection. You may disconnect a connected service at any time from your account settings, which will stop any further data collection from that service.

f. Waitlist Information

If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address to notify you about product availability.

g. Error and Diagnostic Data

We use Sentry to collect error and diagnostic information to improve the reliability of our service. This may include device information, browser type, and technical details about errors you encounter.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Generate personalized, science-backed training plans
  • Provide AI coaching tailored to your fitness level and goals
  • Predict personal records and optimize race-day strategy
  • Analyze your activity data to offer injury prevention insights
  • Improve and maintain the reliability of our service
  • Communicate product updates and important service information

4. Activity Data from Garmin Connect

When you connect your Garmin Connect account, we access your fitness and activity data through the Garmin Connect API. This includes activity summaries, heart rate, sleep, stress, body composition, and other health metrics.

We use this data exclusively to:

  • Personalize your training plans based on your actual performance
  • Track your progress and adjust coaching recommendations
  • Provide recovery and injury prevention insights

We do not sell, rent, or share your Garmin activity data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. You may revoke Cadence's access to your Garmin data at any time by disconnecting Garmin Connect from your account settings or by revoking access through the Garmin Connect app.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with the following service providers, solely to operate and improve Cadence:

  • Clerk — authentication and user account management
  • Convex — database and backend infrastructure
  • Sentry — error tracking and diagnostics
  • Garmin Connect — fitness data synchronization (only when connected by you)

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the app, which will permanently remove your profile data, training preferences, and associated race information.

Waitlist email addresses are retained until the waitlist is no longer needed or until you request removal.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Disconnect third-party services at any time
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.

9. Children's Privacy

Cadence is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.
